Teacher Activism

Teachers historically have been reluctant activists.  We typically are people-pleasing rule followers.  Unfortunately, the teaching profession has been under attack for many years, and it is time for teachers to get loud.  The only way to reclaim public education is for teachers to take ownership of the profession.

The 2016-2017 school year brought incredible changes and moments of clarity for me as an educator.  I found medium.com in January 2017 and decided to launch a publication to curate teacher’s voices, called Teaching in Trump’s America.  Although I have since deleted that publication, it allowed me a springboard to connect with other educators including the Bad Ass Teacher’s Association, The Educator’s Room, and the March For Public Education organizers.  My interactions with educators across the country have inspired me to continue writing and to promote this blog.

Thank you for reading my thoughts.
